The agreement includes a total of 1,162 rooms at ten of Icelandair’s hotels in Iceland. Icelandair Hotels Group has selected the latest generation of Zaplox’s successful kiosk solution, Zaplox Kiosk to make the check-in and checkout process smoother and more efficient at ten of its hotels in Iceland. In the near future, Icelandair Hotels will be able to offer guests the ability to find their reservation, check-in, and encode their own key card by using the Zaplox Kiosk. Guests can also use the kiosk to check out and pay for their stay.  Zaplox Kiosk allows Icelandair Hotels to immediately improve the guest experience by eliminating the need for guests to wait in line to check-in and receive a key card. At the same time, it enables the hotel to utilize its staff resources more efficiently and offer new revenue-generating services, including spa and restaurant reservations, presented at a time when guests are more receptive to making a purchase. Self-service via Zaplox Kiosk is available via touch screen computers in the hotel lobby and will be integrated with the Oracle Opera property management system and lock systems from SALTO Systems and ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions.

The initial value of the agreement, including the volume-based revenue for the first year of operation, is estimated to approximately SEK 500,000. If the solution remains in full operation at the 10 contracted hotels for seven years, which is the average lifetime of a hotel room door lock, the forecasted revenue is SEK 3.3 million for Zaplox. The agreement does not include any volume or revenue guarantees. The first kiosks are scheduled to be up and running in April of 2020.

LUND, SWEDEN — OCT. 4, 2019 Zaplox AB (“Zaplox”), a developer of mobile guest journey software for hotels and casinos, announced that it has signed an agreement with The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center , an award-winning AAA Four-Diamond resort located in the greater Houston area in Texas.

The agreement, which includes both Zaplox Premium and Zaplox Kiosk, will enable The Woodlands Resort, with 402 rooms, to offer their guests a mobile guest journey with the option of using a self-service kiosk upon arrival at the hotel. The solution is integrated with the Oracle Opera property management system (PMS) and the hotel’s lock system from dormakaba. In addition, the Zaplox Premium mobile app has been integrated with the ALICE concierge platform, making it easier for guests to communicate with the hotel staff and request room service and other concierge services via the app’s chat function.

Zaplox Premium will enable guests at The Woodlands Resort to use the same mobile app to check in, unlock the door to their room, communicate with hotel staff, request room service, check out and pay, and book their next stay. The agreement includes Guldsmeden’s 12 hotels, which together comprise a total of 977 rooms in several countries. In the first phase, the Zaplox solution will be installed at six hotels, with a total of 753 rooms. Guldsmeden Hotels will use the Zaplox SDK to add mobile check-in and checkout, with mobile keys to the hotel’s mobile guest app. The solution will be fully integrated with Oracle Opera PMS and ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions locks.

The agreement includes all of Guldsmeden’s 12 hotels, and in the initial phase Zaplox will be deployed at six hotels, a total of 753 rooms; these include Axel Guldsmeden, Copenhagen (212 rooms); Babette Guldsmeden, Copenhagen (98 rooms); Manon les Suites, Copenhagen (87 rooms); Eyja Guldsmeden, Reykjavik (65 rooms); Lulu Guldsmeden, Berlin (81 rooms); and Bryggen Guldsmeden, Copenhagen (210 rooms), which is scheduled to open in mid-2019.

The Zaplox solution will enable Guldsmeden Hotels to offer guests a completely mobile guest journey, with mobile check-in and checkout and mobile keys that enable a guest to unlock the room door with his or her phone. Guests will be able to skip the lines at the front desk and go straight to their rooms. Digital keys allow the hotel to save money spent on plastic key cards and to benefit from more efficient handling of room keys, leaving more time for hotel staff to spend on revenue-generating guest services.

The contract with Guldsmeden Hotels includes approximately SEK 170,000 ($17,705) of nonrecurring revenue for the first six hotels in the first quarter of 2019 and approximately SEK 340,000 ($35,484) in nonrecurring revenue when the six remaining hotels start the installation of the system.

It is currently hard to predict when all 977 doors will be up and running, and there is no guaranteed volume or specified duration in the agreement. If the system remains active for at least seven years, which is the normal lifetime of the locks, it would translate into monthly revenue totaling approximately 3 million kronor ($313,095). However, no guarantees or commitments have been made regarding this.
