Zaplox AB (publ) (“Zaplox”), which offers hotels, casinos, and vacation home rentals a contact-free mobile guest journey for a safe and engaging guest experience, announces that the company’s mobile guest journey is now implemented and in use at two exclusive boutique hotels in the United States; XV Beacon Hotel with 69 rooms in Boston and Hotel Hugo with 112 rooms in New York. Hotel guests no longer have to wait in line at the front desk to check-in or receive a physical key card, but can instead download the hotel’s mobile app to their phone to check-in and get a mobile key.

The customer agreements were signed in May and June of 2020 and Zaplox’s solutions have been integrated with locks from ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions and SALTO Systems, the ALICE Operations Platform, and Oracle OPERA PMS.

“The COVD-19 pandemic has increased the demand and accelerated the transition from to mobile solutions in the hotel industry. Hotel Hugo and XV Beacon Hotel have fewer rooms compared to other hotel agreements that Zaplox’s has signed during the pandemic in the U.S., but they are important miles stones because they are among the first boutique hotels in the U.S. to implement contact-free check-in and mobile keys during the ongoing pandemic”, said Even Frydenberg, Zaplox’s CEO.

Guests staying at Hotel Hugo in New York and XV Beacon Hotel in Boston can now use the hotels’ app for contactless check-in and checkout and the hotel room door can be unlocked with the app’s mobile key. Through the app, guests are also able to access the hotel’s service offerings and can communicate directly with the hotel staff via chat to request concierge services, room service or to make a dinner reservation. As a result, guests is becoming more self-sufficient and don’t have to physically interact with the staff as much.

“We are convinced that hotels that offer a contact-free option for check-in and checkout, consequently removing the need for guests to wait in line at the front desk, will be in a better position to increase their occupancy in the future. Both XV Beacon Hotel and Hotel Hugo are great examples of how boutique hotels are prioritizing mobile solutions to improve guest safety. Zaplox’s mobile guest journey with mobile keys, meets the new requirements for guest safety, helping hotels to comply with the new safety standards,” commented Zaplox’s CEO, Even Frydenberg,

Zaplox AB (“Zaplox”), a developer of mobile guest-engagement solutions for hotels and casinos, announced that the company has signed an agreement with Guldsmeden Hotels. The agreement includes Guldsmeden’s 12 hotels, which together comprise a total of 977 rooms in several countries. In the first phase, the Zaplox solution will be installed at six hotels, with a total of 753 rooms. Guldsmeden Hotels will use the Zaplox SDK to add mobile check-in and checkout, with mobile keys to the hotel’s mobile guest app. The solution will be fully integrated with Oracle Opera PMS and ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions locks.

The agreement includes all of Guldsmeden’s 12 hotels, and in the initial phase Zaplox will be deployed at six hotels, a total of 753 rooms; these include Axel Guldsmeden, Copenhagen (212 rooms); Babette Guldsmeden, Copenhagen (98 rooms); Manon les Suites, Copenhagen (87 rooms); Eyja Guldsmeden, Reykjavik (65 rooms); Lulu Guldsmeden, Berlin (81 rooms); and Bryggen Guldsmeden, Copenhagen (210 rooms), which is scheduled to open in mid-2019.

The Zaplox solution will enable Guldsmeden Hotels to offer guests a completely mobile guest journey, with mobile check-in and checkout and mobile keys that enable a guest to unlock the room door with his or her phone. Guests will be able to skip the lines at the front desk and go straight to their rooms. Digital keys allow the hotel to save money spent on plastic key cards and to benefit from more efficient handling of room keys, leaving more time for hotel staff to spend on revenue-generating guest services.

Magnus Friberg, CEO of Zaplox, says: “Our agreement with Guldsmeden validates that the Zaplox mobile guest journey is an ideal fit for small and medium-sized boutique hotels with a focus on sustainability. It is particularly gratifying that Guldsmeden so quickly realized the benefits of a mobile guest journey and signed an agreement that includes the deployment of Zaplox at all its hotels. Zaplox SDK makes it possible for Guldsmeden Hotels to add new services, such as mobile check-in and checkout and mobile keys, and keep their current mobile app. The agreement with Guldsmeden Hotels is linked to Zaplox’s successful partnership with AK Techotel, which is the company behind Picasso PMS, and we look forward to delivering a modern guest experience to Guldsmeden Hotels.”

The contract with Guldsmeden Hotels includes approximately SEK 170,000 ($17,705) of nonrecurring revenue for the first six hotels in the first quarter of 2019 and approximately SEK 340,000 ($35,484) in nonrecurring revenue when the six remaining hotels start the installation of the system.

It is currently hard to predict when all 977 doors will be up and running, and there is no guaranteed volume or specified duration in the agreement. If the system remains active for at least seven years, which is the normal lifetime of the locks, it would translate into monthly revenue totaling approximately 3 million kronor ($313,095). However, no guarantees or commitments have been made regarding this.

About Guldsmeden Hotels: Guldsmeden Hotels was established in 1999 and consists of 12 sustainable boutique hotels in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Oslo, Reykjavik, Berlin, Bali and Menton. The Guldsmeden Hotels concept has been organically developed over the past 18 years, and today the hotel chain is strongly linked to sustainability and design, with the goal of providing guests a wonderful stay with as little negative environmental impact as possible.
